More than 1,200 seats of the SLAM Beam (designed by Lievore Altherr Molina) furnish the facilities of the Family Court of Philadelphia (United States).
Camille Peluso Architects was in charge of the interior design of the building and they choose compositions of 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 seats of the SLAM beam. The possibility that the SLAM Beam offers to grow 'infinitely', as well as its spectacular design made entirely of aluminium and polypropylene, were decisive when choosing the seats for this installation.
The Philadelphia Family Court combines two sections, the Juvenile Court and the Domestic Relations Court, which, before the last renovation, were located in two separate buildings. EwingCole, the architects responsible of the project, created a classic and elegant design to centralize all services in a single facility located in the emblematic Love Park.
A total of fifteen floors in a steel structure containing court offices, courtrooms, and support facilities, and has separate vertical and horizontal circulation paths for the public, judges, and prisoners.
The building also offers three levels of parking for 260 vehicles, including a secure parking area for judges.
Comfort and design
Design and comfort are two of the main characteristics of our SLAM Chairs program. A characteristic design that is also required in large facilities: airports, hospitals or law courts like the one in Philadelphia.
For that reason, we decided to incorporate SLAM Benches and Beams into our seating catalogue. The beam maintains the same aesthetics as the SLAM program, creating the feeling that the shells 'float' on the structure, but this does not mean that it is not a resistant and comfortable bench.
