Tarabichi Stammberger, at the forefront in the heart of Dubai
13.11.2024 | Health
The Tarabichi Stammberger Ear and Sinus Institute (TSESI) in Dubai (UAE) is a renowned ENT specialist institution co-founded by Dr Muaaz Tarabichi and Dr Heinz Stammberger.
Since its opening in 2020, it has become a pioneering centre for endoscopic ear and sinus surgery, fields in which its founders made significant advances in the field including spearheading and establishing ground-breaking and revolutionary medical techniques in the field.
The Tarabichi Stammberger is a structure of nearly 4,000 square metres located in close proximity to several of the city's most iconic landmarks and neighbourhoods. Certainly, TSESI is a representation of modern architecture and a celebration of cutting-edge healthcare technology in the heart of the modern city of Dubai.
The interior design is by Studio AK, whose founder, Dr. Amjad Alkoud, is an accomplished architect and educator who has dedicated his career to the field of architecture. His works always reflect his vision of architectural modernism, with a limited but powerful use of ‘techno-ornaments’, a term he coined and integrated into multiple areas of the Tarabichi Centre.
These architectural elements combine ornamental details with advanced technology to create an environment where aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand. The design includes patterns and textures that evoke geometric shapes and references to elements of the region, blending the traditional with the technological. Details that not only seek beautify, but also provide functionality in space management and lighting.
The selection of finishes is also noteworthy for their value, quality and durability. Priority has been given to noble materials of natural origin, thus minimising the industrial process.
Benches, chairs and stools
The Studio AK team has chosen different seats from Sellex to furnish the installation. Dr. Alkoud himself highlights the flexibility he has found in Sellex to customise the furniture. This is the case of the SET Stool (designed by Mario Ruiz), an ‘elegant, minimalist and functional’ seat - as he says - to which a touch of colour could be added by changing the upholstery to match the scheme of the installation. In this case, he also highlights the natural wood of the piece, which provides ‘a sense of luxury’.
The SET Stools with Central Leg (76 cm high) have been placed in some of the Institute's meeting rooms, while the AERO Bench, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, has been chosen for the waiting areas. What the founder of StudioAK highlights most is the ‘quality of the aluminium finish’ of this bench, which has been installed in different versions: some with side tables, others with a central table and others without a table, but all of them selfstanding.
Different dimensions have also been chosen: 2-seater benches with a length of 1250 mm; 3-seater benches with a length of 1870 mm; 4-seater benches with a length of 2490 mm and 6-seater benches with a length of 3730 mm.
The SWING Chair was also chosen, a perfect seating for meeting rooms, conference rooms or consulting rooms. This Vogtherr & Dörner design is also available in different versions, and the ones chosen for the Institute of Otolaryngology were the Conference Chair 4 Glides with Upholstered Armrests and the Relax Chair.
For Dr. Amjad Alkoud, the SWING Chair has a ‘unique’ minimalist design. ‘It is such a distinctive seat that it leaves a lasting impression in the memory of visitors,’ he adds.
We at Sellex are very grateful for the trust placed in our benches, chairs and stools for clinics and hospitals, and we are delighted that the result has been as expected.
