Under the slogan 'Heritage and modernity', the Euskadi Mugak/ International Architecture Biennial hosted a hundred activities at the end of 2021. Organized by Habic (Cluster of equipment, furniture and design of the Basque Country and Navarre), the exhibition and the documentary 'Crafts of Design' were part of them.

In the 1970s and 1980s, with designer furniture as their axis, 8 Basque companies created a completely new industrial sector that is currently characterized by its great international projection. Sellex is one of these companies. 'This project brings society closer to the people who created out of nothing an activity that unites design, industry and architecture', highlighted Xabier Pérez de Arenaza, architect and head of architecture projects at Habic.

The curators of the itinerant outdoor exhibition were Raquel Ares and Iñaki Albistur from the Arquimaña studio. To do this, they selected a product from each of the companies and showed their breakdown with the aim of giving the industrial process an artisan character, seen as a process that starts from the human. The AERO Bench designed by Lievore Altherr Molina was selected for Sellex.

For its part, the documentary directed by Ane Rotaetxe from the production company Begira narrates in the first person the journey of these pioneers and their evolution until today. 'We have collected in a very human way the testimony of a self-made generation, with great enthusiasm for what they did and that leaves a great legacy in the territory', Rotaetxe affirmed. Andrés Muñoz, founder of Sellex, is one of these entrepreneurs.

We have selected some of the reflections of these 8 people, as well as the part corresponding to Sellex, creating a smaller video. It is our small tribute to our origins, which allow us to be who we are now.
