Macdonald-Cartier Airport in Ottawa, Canada, was faced with the need to expand its facilities to better serve the passengers who pass through its terminal on a daily basis. This expansion project included not only the construction of a new terminal building, but also a new parking structure and extensions to the taxiway.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the project is the timber structure that connects the building to Ottawa's timber heritage and the airport history. A solution that adds elegance and warmth.
The remodelling was a major boost for the airport as it received several awards from the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada, highlighting both the quality of the building from an architectural point of view and the excellent management of the project.
A special bench for a special airport
Following the extension of the Macdonald-Cartier Airport complex, some waiting areas were equipped with one of our most outstanding benches, the AERO Waiting Bench, specifically its Fixed to Tier version.
The AERO Bench Floor Attachment Fixed to Tier is the solution of the AERO family for the grandstands of sports and cultural venues and other facilities where the furniture must take up as little space as possible.
Without losing the characteristic features of the family (minimalism and lightness), it can be used both indoors and outdoors. For this reason, it is also perfect for passenger terminals, a type of installation that often requires outdoor use, such as bus stations, train stations or sea terminals.
On this occasion, as it is an airport, the 23 units of AERO Bench Fixed to Tier have been installed indoors, with Floor Attachment.
The truth is that AERO is our most 'traveller' bench and the one that has equipped the most international airports: Geneva Airport (Switzerland), Greensboro Airport in North Carolina (USA), Arlanda Airport in Stockholm (Sweden) or Copenhagen Airport (Denmark) are just a few of the long list. May we continue to travel as much with our AERO Airport Bench.
