Impact Hub, a living and inspiring coworking space

15.06.2023 | Offices

More than a hundred SLAM Chairs, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina for Sellex, dress the offices of Impact Hub Piamonte, in the Chueca neighbourhood of Madrid. This branch of the global company Impact Hub, with more than 100 offices in 50 countries, opened its doors with the clear objective of becoming a living, flexible and inspiring coworking space. Something essential in a workplace like this, where users tend to handle a different work dynamic than in traditional offices.

The challenge was not easy. According to the architects responsible for the project, José María Churtichaga and Cayetana De la Quadra-Salcedo from the ch+qs studio, the challenge was how to transform an old, very impersonal and cramped administrative building into an inspiring space.

And they certainly did. At least this is endorsed by recognitions such as the Frame Awards that each year reward the best design proposals at an international level and that recognized Impact Hub Piedmont as 'Best Coworking Space'.

The centre has capacity for 180 jobs and also has different spaces for events and meetings with capacity for another 450 people. The facilities are generally used by entrepreneurs from a wide variety of sectors: blockchain, fintech, energy, health, education, food, mobility, textile trade, platforms for independent professionals, training, etc.

Sustainable building

The entire project conforms to the company's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals that promote responsible production and consumption. In this way, the space is designed using sustainable elements, local raw materials and recycled materials.

  • Ceiling and walls of esparto grass.
  • Recycled glass tiles on the floor and walls.
  • The roof of the attic is made with irrigation hoses that simulate an artisan basket.
  • Wood from forests used rationally.
  • And also, electricity consumption from 100% renewable energy.

Design and collaborative work

Aware that design is key to promoting collaborative work, the entire project is designed so that inspiration never runs out. 'Our spaces seek to facilitate collaborative processes and transversal relationships, necessary to generate innovation,' says Antonio González, CEO of Impact Hub Madrid.

'The workspace and the purpose of companies are related. We are experts in welcoming people, projects and teams to generate an innovation discourse focused on the SDGs. And our spaces inspire this mission', concludes Antonio González.

For this reason, at Sellex we are very grateful for the trust placed in our furniture as an inspiring element in collaborative work.

On this occasion, we have equipped the Piamonte office with 119 upholstered SLAM Swivel Chairs with armrests. But it is not the only Impact Hub in which we have collaborated. We also equipped the Serrano Anguita branch with chairs with the same characteristics.

The truth is that at Sellex we have a wide catalogue of furniture solutions for collaborative work spaces, from chairs and stools to tables of all kinds, including partition walls and other pieces of auxiliary furniture.

So, if you are looking for equipment for your workspace, do not hesitate to contact us so that we can help you find the solution that best suits your needs.
