Resa La Concepción: a true «place to be» in Valencia

A clear example of this evolution is the comprehensive renovation of Resa La Concepción in Valencia. Located opposite the Mestalla Stadium and next to Blasco Ibáñez Avenue (the city's university hub), this hybrid space operates as both a student residence and a seasonal hotel.

The comprehensive renovation project, carried out by Samaruc Estudio, transforms the common areas into a true place to be—a benchmark for community living and contemporary comfort—where Sellex furniture brings together design, functionality, and colour.

The project's main objective was twofold: to align the facilities with a fresh, cosmopolitan global brand identity while functionally adapting the building to meet the needs of young long-term residents, bringing it closer to the concept of an urban boutique hotel.

With more than 400 m² of redesigned common areas, the project stands out for what its creators describe as a 'surgical design': solutions with major visual and functional impact without the need for complex structural renovations.

A flexible ecosystem and the color block strategy

To organize circulation flows and encourage both in-person and digital interaction in the shared spaces, Samaruc Estudio chose to zone the different environments without building partitions. The key to the project's success lay in the lighting and, above all, in a carefully planned color block strategy. Through the use of colour and the integration of different types of high-performance seating, they succeeded in defining distinct atmospheres for each activity, whether in the dining area, games room, or meeting spaces.

This is where Sellex furniture comes into play. To furnish these multifunctional areas and office-style environments, the studio selected a total of 36 SLAM Chairs (with a black frame and polypropylene shell in a warm camel brown) along with several HANDY Stools in Polypropylene (in Musgo green and camel brown). According to Fran Sabater of Samaruc Estudio, both collections fit perfectly within the project's colour palette.

Functionality, design, and durability

These are the real reasons why Samaruc Estudio chose Sellex collaborative furniture for this project: 'its design, value for money, and functionality,' highlights Sabater.

Furthermore, the suitability of these seating solutions had already been proven within the residence chain itself. As Sabater explains, they first encountered the products at another residence in the chain, Resa Chamartín in Madrid. 'We wanted to connect the projects in some way, especially through colour and style, so these references were a perfect fit and supported our color block concept for zoning the spaces,' Sabater adds.

As a result, the SLAM Chair and the HANDY Stool not only provide an aesthetic solution but also ensure optimal performance under the intensive use typical of this type of facility.

The renovation of Resa La Concepción demonstrates that learning and shared-living environments in the hospitality sector can be highly efficient, durable, and aesthetically inspiring at the same time. Spaces where designer furniture becomes a strategic tool for enhancing the user experience.
