Versatility and sustainability at Home Hotel 1624 in Kongsberg
11.02.2026 | Hospitality
Contemporary architecture is moving towards more flexible models, capable of integrating different uses and responding to new ways of inhabiting the city.
Within this context stands Home Hotel 1624, located in Kongsberg (Norway) and forming part of Sølvparken, a mixed-use building that brings together retail, residential and hotel functions.
This is a project built around versatility and sustainability as its core principles, with interior furnishings that support this philosophy. In the hotel rooms, LA LITERAL Bunk Beds by Sellex are integrated as a functional, robust and adaptable solution for different guest profiles.
Sølvparken is conceived as a new urban landmark at the entrance to Kongsberg town centre. Designed by Halvorsen & Reine AS, the complex comprises a two-storey shopping centre, a residential development with 68 apartments, and an 11-storey hotel with 121 rooms. This combination of retail, housing and hotel reflects one of the most established trends in contemporary urban planning: mixed-use buildings that activate urban life, optimise land use and reduce unnecessary travel.
The aim of the project has been to contribute to street life and strengthen connections within the urban environment, with particular attention given to architectural expression and residential quality.
A hotel designed to feel like home
As its name suggests, Home Hotel 1624 is conceived as a place where guests can feel at home. This is the message conveyed by the Home Hotel chain, formerly known as Clarion Collection, which rebranded to align even more closely with its philosophy: “at home until you get home”.
Across its more than 50 hotels, the chain focuses on creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere for guests — something that becomes clear the moment one steps through the doors of Home Hotel 1624. Its interiors seek a balance between comfort, functionality and a touch of Scandinavian warmth. With open spaces, a restaurant, fitness centre and a rooftop sky bar with terrace, the hotel is conceived as more than just accommodation.
Its strategic location is also noteworthy. Situated in the northern part of Sølvparken, it allows guests to explore the highlights of Kongsberg, from its impressive natural landscapes to its rich cultural heritage.
Sustainability is another key pillar of the project. The hotel holds the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, one of the most demanding certifications in the Nordic countries, recognising its environmental commitment in areas such as energy consumption, materials and responsible resource management.
LA LITERAL: versatility applied to rest
Within this framework, LA LITERAL Bunk Beds by Sellex provide a coherent response to the hotel’s needs. Seventeen folding bunk beds for hotel use have been installed in a 200 × 90 cm configuration, with high safety rails, white frames, white melamine fronts and side covers. A solution designed to optimise space, but above all to deliver a carefully considered experience of comfort and rest.
The design of LA LITERAL stands out for its ability to adapt to different environments and typologies of use — particularly relevant in a versatile building such as Sølvparken. Its robust construction and sober language align with the hotel’s functional aesthetic, while its folding bunk-bed system allows for different room configurations.
The integration of LA LITERAL at Home Hotel 1624 reinforces a shared vision: creating efficient, welcoming and responsible spaces.
