Atrium, where nature inspires design

11.04.2025 | Hospitality

Beneath a spectacular glass roof that floods the space with natural light, Atrium restaurant, located in the Pullman Kinshasa Grand Hotel, becomes a meeting point between urban modernity and nature. It is a minimalist and refined restaurant that welcomes both hotel guests and anyone seeking to disconnect and enjoy Congolese cuisine in a chic atmosphere.

To achieve this fusion of nature and modernity, the interior design team has relied on two pieces by Sellex: the SLAM Basic Chair with Armrests and the PLANC Square Table. A total of 80 SLAM Chairs with 2D oak shell and light grey frame have been installed, along with 35 PLANC Square Tables (80x80 cm) in the same tone. A choice that reaffirms the establishment’s commitment to elegant and functional design.

With this choice, Atrium aims to connect with the natural surroundings through noble materials and soft forms. 'The refined design and oak shell of these chairs perfectly harmonize with the soul of the Atrium. Under its vaulted ceiling, a forest of preserved plants thrives, creating a symbiosis with the surrounding nature. This communion extends to the mural, depicting a lush tropical landscape, and is anchored to the floor with these oak-shelled chairs,' the interior design team explains.

The SLAM Basic Chair with Aluminium Armrests brings not only a contemporary and elegant image, but also ensures a comfortable experience. 'The armrests, carefully integrated, add a touch of comfort and elegance, ensuring maximum ease for every passing visitor,' they add.

As for the PLANC Table, its durability was what caught their attention most. It is an extremely durable table that offers generous space for two, three or four people, while occupying a reduced space.

Another advantage recognised by the project’s designers is the versatility of the furniture, precisely what a space like this requires. Atrium offers continuous dining service throughout the day but also hosts events, receptions and cocktail parties. It therefore needs furniture that can be moved with ease. In this case, both the SLAM Chair and the PLANC Table are perfect as furniture for multipurpose spaces.

A space with its own character

Atrium forms part of the Pullman Kinshasa Grand Hotel’s culinary offering, an iconic establishment located in the heart of the capital’s diplomatic and business district. With 190 rooms and suites, wellness facilities including a spa, gym and swimming pool, and a strong events infrastructure with 11 meeting rooms, the hotel blends lifestyle, luxury and functionality in a single destination.

Within this context, Atrium stands out as a unique space. It offers a full sensory experience with dishes inspired by Congolese cuisine, artisanal pastries, teas, juices and gourmet coffees. Its atmosphere is enhanced by a calm and sophisticated décor.

We are delighted that the Atrium team has chosen our furniture to reinforce the identity of the restaurant: a high-level gastronomic proposal in a space where design is placed at the service of comfort. SLAM and PLANC integrate seamlessly, elevating the guest experience and giving the restaurant a distinctive character.
